Spectacular entertainment, thrilling competition and a new Shopping Forum – The British Open is an unmissable equestrian spectacular for the Easter holidays.
The British Open Show Jumping Championships has rapidly become one of the most prestigious indoor events on the equestrian calendar and provides an action packed programme of top competition and entertainment. Britain’s top riders, including defending champion Robert Smith, are invited to compete against leading riders from abroad in a unique competition over four days. In addition, the impressive programme is full of other top show jumping classes and some of the very best equestrian entertainment you will see anywhere.
The 2007 event takes place at the NEC in Birmingham for the very first time and promises to be the biggest and best yet!
Aside from first class competition, the British Open is offering a whole spectrum of entertainment including thrilling Scurry Driving, the UK’s highest goal Arena Polo, gymnastic harmony with the English Vaulting Squad, cowboy Barrel Racing and the graceful freestyle to music Dressage Special by rising star Rebecca Moody. In addition, 24 young riders from the Pony Club will be displaying a unique ‘cowboys and Indians’ choreographed ride.
For the first time ever visitors passionate about shopping can enjoy the new spacious Shopping Forumaccommodating more than 100 standsand there will also be daily signings by all the top riders.
On Thursday evening the British Open will once again host the highly acclaimed British Open Indoor Cross Country following last year’s inaugural competition which attracted some of the world’s leading eventers including HOYS’ Equestrian of the Year and newly crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year, World Champion Zara Phillips. The country’s top eventers will tackle a series of bespoke cross country jumps in this unique competition which will once again have visitors on the edge of their seats.
Round one of The British Open Championship itself commences on Thursday evening with two further rounds on Friday and Saturday, after which a ‘cut’ will decide the top twenty riders who will go forward to contest Sunday’s Final.
Other show jumping competitions include the British Under 23 Championship, run over Friday and Saturday, the popular British Open Puissance on Saturday evening and the Winter Premier Shows Grand Prix on Sunday.
Whichever day you come to the British Open you are guaranteed a fantastic equestrian experience. Thursday and Friday are great value all-day tickets so you can soak up the atmosphere from morning to night.

Ticket Information
Thursday and Friday offer great value all-day tickets, which cover both the afternoon and evening performances.
Performances at the weekend are split into two performances on Saturday (daytime and evening) and one daytime performance on Sunday.
Ticket Details
Adult tickets range from £25 to £45
Tickets for children under 15 and senior citizens range from £12.50 to £35.
All tickets are subject to a booking fee with the exception of personal callers paying cash at the NEC box office.
