NPA Fun Show

The Native Pony Association Autumn fun show saw two youngsters take champion and reserve champion. Amy Gregory rode four year-old Trevarth Galahad, who is by Trevarth Tamarino out of Trevarth Gemma and owned by Jean McNaughton to the champion spot after winning his class. Only broken in last Christmas the pony has had tremendous success in only a few outings under saddle and must definitely be one to watch for the future. At the beginning of the season he won his class at the NPA Spring show taking the championship followed by first in his class at The Cornwall Open where he took the championship and the NPA silver medal, first in class and the Supreme Championship at the South West Welsh Pony and Cob Society show.

The Reserve championship went to Jenna Braddon with the Welsh Section B, Chywoon Scrumpy Jack on his debut outing under saddle. The pony was only broken in by Jenna five weeks ago and is owned by Fred and Debbie Kellow from the Chywoon stud. He won all three of the classes he entered at the show being; The Mountain and Moorland small breeds, the Novice Pony and the young handler with Ryan Ward. Judge Tulie Richardson commented that she expects the pony will do well in the future.

Eleven year-old Georgia Rase entered the first championship of the day with only two second placed rosettes which she acquired in the 13.2hh and under novice and open on Brynllwyn Georgie Boy. Georgia impressed the judge so much in the championship that she reversed her class decision and brought forward Georgia as her section champion. Commenting afterwards the judge said that she judges the championship as though they were entirely new classes and looks at both ponies and riders as if she had not previously judged them.

Laurie Booth from Cardinham is usually seen on showgrounds grooming for her two daughters and driving the horsebox. But at the NPA fun show she showed all the youngsters that she can ride too. A special class was put on the schedule for veteran riders. A class which is not put on at many shows, Advent being the only other show I know of. Lauire had not competed in the show ring for over 25 years and was delighted to win the class and go on to take the ring championship. Judge Tulie Richardson said; "What a good class this is, there should be more classes such as this on show schedules".
