East Cornwall Dinner & Dance

East Cornwall Riding Club had a wonderful dinner and dance at Trelaske Country Hotel, Polperro where they gave out their annual awards. The most improved rider trophy went to Michael Brooks, the best Novice Horse went to Fizz ridden by Fiona Renfree and the points trophy which is the accumulation of points collected at members only shows based on placings and attendance was won by Lousie Garland on Red River . Other winners were second; Fiona Renfree on Fizz, third; Audrey Walker on Ancre Valley, Fourth; Wendy Roberts on Cracker, fifth; Sue Minchinton on Sparky and sixth Nicky Du Plessis on West of the Tamar. A charity raffle and envelope is also now an event at the dinner dance which raised £300 for the Riding for the Disabled Association group at Duchy College .

The Clubs Christmas show jumping restricted to members only was a mix of clear blue skies and foggy frost so there was a slow start to the early small classes but by the time the open 2ft 6in class came along members turned up to help make it a successful show.

The club is aiming to buy a set of plastic show jumps and need to raise funds for their purchase. They already have a sponsor for a large fence but still need more and are offering a unique opportunity for members to have their name put onto an East Cornwall Riding Club fence for £25 which will stay with the club forever. The committee have calculated that if every member buys a name then they will raise £4,000 and be able to purchase a great set of show jumps for the club.
