Endurance Training Rides

Endurance GB South West have been busy recently with their training rides. The Caerhays Castle ride was buzzing with the enthusiasm of over 70 riders from across the Southwest. Good weather blessed the ride, giving fantastic views of the coast. Winter sunshine enabled competitors to make the most of the coastal paths, tracks and farmland to test their horses fitness on the Cornish slopes.

Organisers Trudy Hall and Tanya Southworth were pleased with the success of their first ride and would like to thank their volunteers for assisting at the event. Also many thanks to the landowners, F.J & C.H Williams and tenants for allowing the event to take place, and special thanks to Mr Broom for all of his help with the route and on the day. The 18 km training ride was enjoyed by all.

Sadly the good fortune of the last two years, did not extend to this years Poldice Valley training ride. The weather was wet, windy and cold. However, 23 riders rode the 18 km ride many of them gaining fast times around the changed route which was less stony than last years. The absence of other bridleway users also cleared the way for riders wanting to maintain a good pace. Carolyn Paget went out ahead of the other riders and re-marked parts of the route where the dayglo markers had been removed. Many riders stated how much they had enjoyed the ride which was rewarding for those who had braved the weather to help mark the route, act as stewards and help at the venue.
