Mollie Trethewey

Ten year-old Mollie Trethewey a pupil at St Mabyn School nr Wadebridge, is delighted that her new partnership with Val and Tony Croft's black Welsh Sec C gelding Hurricane Harvey has started so well.

Having only been together for a week Harvey and Mollie collected a second and a third place at the latest round of showjumping at Tall Trees. The points accrued for these placings helped to put them into first place for the time being in the Members League. Harvey has only recently turned his hoof to jumping and seems to be thoroughly enjoying the new direction.

Mollie, a member of North Cornwall Pony Club, has regular lessons with Becky Monk from Lakefield Equestrian Centre, Clare Deithrick, and Claire Rushworth. She recently represented the Pony Club in the Area Under 10's Dressage competition riding her dependable black pony Blackberry and Sharon Hawken's Dreamcatcher. Mollie regularly attends the British Young Riders Dressage Scheme training and is looking forward to taking Harvey to the next BYRDS training session at Tall Trees during the half term holiday.

At the BYRDS Under 25's Festival in May Mollie rode Nanquidno Firecracker to a number of placings at Prelim and Novice Level, and was also awarded a bridle donated by St Leonard's Equestrian Centre for her endeavour.

Despite her new partnership with Harvey being in its early stages Mollie is looking forward to the times ahead with Harvey. Over the Winter she is keen to compete in dressage and showjumping competitions, hunter trials and possibly some indoor cross country classes. Being a youngster his first dressage test was 'interesting' as he found some amazing gremlins behind the white boards but hopefully these will disappear with time.
