Spurs Showjumping

Spurs show jumping once again held a successful jumping event last Thursday. Organisers wish to thank the sponsors for the evening Crosswinds Equestrian and Stacey Johns who presented the awards on their behalf. Thanks also go to Andrew James who yet again very kindly donated his services as course builder. Andrew built a very challenging final class with jumps being up to height and first place being very keenly contested eventually won by local Bugle rider Carol Dunster on ILPH Boxer.

Special mention must be made to young Bryony Eddy who came fourth in the 3ft open class on her little pony Silverdeer Cherry. Bryony entered spurs show jumping at the beginning of the season in the restricted novice class and has now progressed up to the 3ft open, she sailed over the course with ease. Spurs spokesperson Mike Johns said:

"It is nice to see someone like Bryony progress like this and makes us feel proud that we are doing what we set out to do. Help the younger generation gain the confidence to aim higher and to become better riders".

The challenge for the points trophy is not over yet, with several riders very close on points and the leader board changing at every event competition is hotting up. The presentation evening will be on Friday 7 April and tickets will be on sale shortly, prospective party goers are advised to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment as tickets sold very quickly last year. The next spurs show jumping event is Thursday 9 February, at Pendavey Equestrian Centre, commencing at 6.30pm with the novice followed by 'Take your own Line' and then the 3ft open.
