Following a horrendous weather report members turned out in good numbers for the last South West Pony Association show of the season. Having moved from its normal venue, due to imposed limitations, to the outdoor site of David Broome’s pre-entries were good and only a small number failed to turn up.

Foal classes were well attended and the champion and reserve came from the M&M section. Champion M&M foal was N McGrail’s Welsh Sect C Brynithon Triple Crown under Mr Antony McDonald with Irene Ball’s Vimpenny Colonel standing reserve.

Mr Martin Grist choose G Healey’s Show Hunter foal, Sandley Mintan as his Champion with Lorna Robins’s Widlake Double Bounce as Reserve having won her Saith/Stepley Breeders Challenge Class. When both judges came to judge the Supreme foal championship the results went to both Reserve Champions with Vimpenny Colonel taking the Supreme foal and Widlake Double Bounce the reserve slot.

J Hawin’s took both Champion and Resserve slot in the Mini Championship. Her pony Drayton Foxglove won the Beginners and the PUK M&M First Ridden and went on to stand Supreme and then Khyber Helen won the Open and Show Hunter Lead Rein as well as the SHP First Ridden before standing reserve.

With the all-weather draining set to pump out the water as quickly as it fell the conditions for the working hunter course was soft and several Championship and qualifiers for PUK were up for grabs.

Katrina Poole took the M&M WHP Championship and also stood Reserve Champion in the PUK Llanarth M&M Ridden to G Baker’s Welsh Sect D Powysvalley Minstral.

SWPA’s next show will be the Mid-Winter Show at a date and venue to be announced, where there will be another opportunity to qualify for the PUK Festival and SWPA Winter Championships to be held later in the Spring.
