Twinkle is a Little Star

The first South West Shetland Pony Group held its very first ever Foal and Youngstock show at Cholwell Equestrian Centre, however it unfortunately clashed with the Cornish Native Pony Association foal and young stock show, which was a shame as the Tawna Stud from Bodmin had to choose between the two venues. The stud have been breeding Shetlands for over 40 years on Bodmin Moor and their choice was simple they opted for their own society's show.

Proprietor of the stud Fiona Hammond told Guardian Sport that taking five miniature Shetlands to a foal and young stock show in the midst of winter was a challenge in itself ensuring that they were all neat and clean to go forward in front of the judge.

However, lovely Tawna Twinkle, pictured who is the first foal of Tawna Razzle Dazzle, who was always very successful when shown, made it all worth while and wowed the judge on her debut outing in the miniature filly class. With an amazing fifteen entries forward Twinkle put up a good performance and took first prize and later went on to stand Champion foal of all sections at the show. Fiona added that the judge was particularly impressed with Twinkles free movement and quality.

The stud also faired well with the other four ponies they took but sadly with some behavioural problems in the ring the two mini yearlings took second and third (one wouldn't go and one wouldn't stop) Their miniature colt foal stood a proud second and Tawna Saffron was moved down to second place after being called in provisional first.
